Chapter 4 - Almost buried (3)

Buried
ELPHI

What a terrible storm it was! The bus kept turning and turning as were going up into the mountain. The children were beginning to be a bit worried. So was I, by the way…

MAKI

Are we there yet?

MONKITO

No. Can you see anything?

ELPHI

All of a sudden we arrived to a big turn in the road. And there we saw it. Lots of animals were moving around. And the traffic didn’t move: cars, buses, ambulances. Something had definitely happened! The line of vehicles was so large that we could be stuck there for days.

MAKI

I am freezing to death!

MONKITO

Miss Elphi, what will happen if that mountain drops on our head?

ELPHI

We could be buried.

MONKITO

What about that people living in that house at the edge?

MAKI

They are in danger of falling down.

MONKITO

What’s a tropical monkey like me doing up here?

MAKI

Miss Elphi, look at Monkito. He has climbed up that tree with the camera.

ELPHI

Monkito, come down right now!

MONKITO

In a minute!

ELPHI

Right now! This area is becoming dangerous! We must move out!

MONKITO

I have to film this! It seems that someone has been buried under that earth!

MAKI

It’s a buffalo! And the rescuers can’t get him out of the mud!

ELPHI

They need heavy equipment. Elphi to the rescue!

MAKI

You did it, Miss Elphi!

BINDU

You saved the buffalo!
